A Prophet’s Counsel and Prayer for YouthSource
Authority: Gordon B. Hinckley
"May I mention earrings and rings placed in other parts of the body. These are not manly. They are not attractive. You young men look better without them, and I believe you will feel better without them. As for the young women, you do not need to drape rings up and down your ears. One modest pair of earrings is sufficient." Gordon B. Hinckley
The problem with making something so black and white is the shame and exclusion that goes with such statements. Amazingly, since President Hinckley made that statement more than 10 years ago, this has been as reason for women and men to stop coming to church. Shame, judgement and more shame. I want people with Tatoos and piercings to come hear the messages of church and feel comfortable there.
